Nigerian Music Industry loses reggae star,  Ras Kimono Nigerian legendary reggae star, Ukeleke Onwubuya, popularly known as Ras Kimono died at 60. Kimono died on Sunday June 10 at  Lagoon Hospital, Lagos. Kimono was said to have concluded plans to travel to United States before he took ill on Saturday night and was rushed to a hospital at Ikeja, where he was later taken to Lagoon Hospital at Lagos Island. The Delta born super star's debut album  Under Pressure  led by him and his band 'Massive Dread Reggae Band' in 1989 brought him to limelight. His other albums such as  Rum-Bar Stylée  and  We no want  also added to his fame in music industry. CRIME GUARD: RRS rescues graduate from ‘one chance’ bus robbers By Temitope Adedigba THE Lagos State Police PRO, SP Chike Oti, has advised public not  to be dragging with armed robbers. The advice came after a graduate of Lead City University, Ibadan, Liberty Whitney was rescued from the hands of bus robbers, popularly called “one chance”, by the team of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS of Lagos State Command, in which the driver of the bus driver was shot dead. Oshodi-Isolo LGA tasks Mkts  leaders on cleanliness TO ensure markets in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area are free from environmental hazards and outbreak of epidemics, the Special Adviser on Environment, to the council boss, Hon. Yusuf Adesanya, Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Abiola Oladipupo and Environmental officers charged the market leaders to keep their markets clean always. SINCE Nigeria returned  to civil rule in 1999, there has been ceaseless calls for autonomy for the 774 Local Government Areas in the country. Although, the 1999 Constitution recognised local governments as the third tier of government with provisions that gave the councils partial autonomy, the aberration of having a state and local government joint account has worsened the financial state of the councils. Some governors were accused of spending allocations that were accrued to the councils which has made it difficult for some local governments to pay their workers salaries. In some states, council workers are owed several months arrears of salaries. HEALTHY LIVING Panic as Lassa Fever spreads to many states ...death toll increases By Joseph Temidayo Don’t eat rat, don’t touch rat, don’t eat any food touched by rat, store food in sealed containers and wash hands with soap after visiting toilet, shaking hands before eating. These warnings came from the Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu to the public, to reduce the menace of Lassa Fever. According to him, the deadly disease is caused by contact with food or household items contaminated with rodent urine or faeces. Since the disease returned January this year, over 200 victims have died, among the over 1,700 affected by the virus, including health workers.
