Police arrest Kuje prison escapee, 17 other suspects
Nasarawa State Police Command, has paraded another escapee from Kuje Prison, Abuja, following attack on the facility by insurgents in August 2022. State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel who disclosed this in Lafia, while briefing journalists, said the escapee, Haruna Sunday, was arrested in Karu Local Government Area of the state for alleged involvement in another crimine. According to the Police spokesperson, the arrest of the suspect followed complaints from some residents of the area of persistent cases of snatching of telephone and invasion of homes by the suspect. The suspect, Haruna Sunday, who confessed to the crime, said: “I escaped from the Kuje prison during the jailbreak in 2022 while awaiting trial in the prison. It was the telephone that I stole that brought me into the prison.” The arrest of Sunday brings the number of Kuje escapees to three in Nasarawa State since the jailbreak in 2022.
