Gunmen have killed two policemen and injured three others in Rivers State. The incident happened on Monday night around Mbodo Village, Aluu Community, Ikwere Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that the victims were on a stop-and-search operation when the assailants swooped on them and gunned them down. It was gathered that the killers were driving in a car and stopped by the police operatives, but the criminals on stopping opened fire on the officers mounting the road. FOLLOWING renewed engagements with the Oyo State government and assurances of enhanced security measures after the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, yesterday, suspended its strike across public schools, directing teachers to resume work on Thursday. •Demolishes shanties along Lagos-Badagry highway THE Lagos State government, has warned residents of continued heavy rainfall with attendant flash floods across Lagos and coastal areas in the coming weeks.   The warning comes following persistent heavy downpour with high levels of flooding across the metropolis.  The rainfall, which lasted several hours, submerged property and roads in Lagos, halted commercial activities and vehicular movement. Some residents had to bail out stormwater from their homes to stay safe.
