Fola Tinubu explains increase in LAGBUS

THE Managing Director of Primero Transport Services Limited, Mr. Fola Tinubu has justified the reason the company increased transport fares. The increment which commenced last month was increased by 25%. Speaking with the community media practitioners at Alausa-Ikeja, recently, Tinubu said that though the government was mindful of the current financial difficulties residents were going through, it has to approve the fare increase to save the bus schemes from collapse. Tinubu said what the bus operators spent on fuel, oil and tyre had gone up above 100% threatening their operations. “In view of this and with government’s responsibility to avert a collapse of the transport service which currently serves millions of commuters daily, government had to consider request by the operators for an upward review of the bus fares out of necessity. *Complain of awful dump sites, bad roads *Call Gov Ambode to repair TLS, construct Concrete landfill sites By Idowu Ajigboteso THE Private Sector Participation (PSP), operators in Lagos State have cried out over the plan of the state government to bring in a foreign firm to take over waste disposal management in the state. The operators have complained about awful conditions at dumpsites, bad roads, lack of access to some streets and failure of LAWMA to pay them promptly for their services. They have appealed to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to retain their services, construct concrete landfill sites with power supply and repair the Transfer Loading Stations to make their services more effective.  They said that if the landfill sites are illuminated, their vehicles could dispose wastes at night, rather than only in the afternoon, where all the 350 trucks will line up to dispose wastes at a time, which is delaying their services. Gov Ambode should help us develop Aiyetoro Community

A community leader in Ayetoro Community at Makoko in Yaba Local Council Development Area, Prince Olatunde Adebawo Ogunmayin, has appealed to Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode to assist in development of the area which has been abandoned for some years. In an interview with The Harbinger at his residence, Prince Olatunde who always attends to many problems people bring to him without discrimination explained that health facilities have not improved in Aiyetoro, no good drinkable water and no good roads in Ayetoro Community. According to the former chairman, Aiyetoro Ori-Oke CDA, “if I become the Baale of Aiyetoro, I will bring the state government down to Aiyetoro for community development. “We have four late Baales in Aiyetoro which was not recognised by Oloto of Iddo and Mainland Chieftaincy. Chief Rahmon Ayodele Morenikeji is a retired civil servant, a community leader and a rallying point in Shogunle town. In this interview, Rahmon spoke on the challenges facing his community and his expectation from government. Excerpts: Can we meet you?  I am Chief Ayodele Morenikeji, Babalaje of Shogunle. I attended Ikeja Local Government Primary School 1955-1962; Yaba Academy 1963-1965, Federal Technical College Yaba 1977-1979 and Yaba College of Technology. I worked with University of Lagos for many years before I retired in 1994.
