Adeleke fires 12,000 workers; suspends 3 kings appointments
Cheering Osun State workers receive Governor Ademola Adeleke at the state secretariat, Osogbo. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, had a busy first 24 hours in office yesterday. He dethroned three monarchs recently enthroned by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola; suspended the chairman and members of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSIEC; and sacked 12,000 workers previously employed by Oyetola via executive orders. The new governor also clashed with state legislators over the legality of his executive orders over laws passed by the House, even as hoodlums wreaked havoc in Osogbo, attacking motor parks, forcing Governor Adeleke to issue a public warning against violence.
