In some instances, especially, if the motive remains unclear, some people assume they must have been about money-making. However, other people, including Christian and Muslim clerics, don’t believe in the efficacy of money rituals. By that, they mean there is nowhere in the history of humankind where anybody has made real cash appear through the means of magic. They simply des

“I had my rapist’s baby at age nine, married him at 11 and had six kids by 16"

THE story you are about to read was culled from womenofrubies.com, a capacity building and inspirational platform for women. The story took us through the traumatic journey of the life of a young girl who at the tender age of 9 was abused by her church pastor whom she was later forced to marry at age 11. It also took us through a vivid imagery of willful lack of care on the part of those who were supposed to protect her. Her mother’s contributory negligence was perhaps the most complicit in the chain of horrific abuse that would span several years. I found this quite chilling and relevant to the situation of many young people right now. Please, enjoy reading and share your thoughts with me.   Sherry was just nine-years-old when she was raped by a man she should have been able to trust - the deacon of her local church.  He was 18 and targeted Sherry when she was still a young child. Her mother and sisters were out at church and the youngster was home alone.  Sherry’s attacker let himsel

•My captors told us they own Nigeria, Tosin •They said they also sell body parts of some victims for rituals THE persistent spate of insecurity in Nigeria has no doubt, reached an alarming level just as it has become obvious that the country’s security infrastructure is incapable of clipping the wings of rampaging terrorists. From gory tales of massacre of innocent villagers, destruction of people’s houses and sacking communities as well as mass kidnap of villagers and travellers, the story is the same all over Nigeria. The increasing intensity of the nefarious activities of unscrupulous elements terrorising the country, has created palpable fear in the masses such that nobody knows when or where next the dare devils will strike.   Kidnapped and released three days later, Gospel artiste, Sir Oluwatosin Alao found his voice after two years, to relive his experience in the kidnappers den. Fact is, Tosin as fondly called, and his band that survived the ordeal, are just few out of the thou

While the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, pointedly said his party has not taken a decision on the zoning, the PDP was silent, as its committee has screened no fewer than 17 aspirants drawn from across the country. The PDP screening committee led by former Senate President, David Mark, cleared 15 of the aspirants and disqualified two. The polity has been astir of recent over clamour for zoning. There are three schools of Thought on zoning, namely: Power-shift to the South; zoning the presidency to the South-East; and throwing the race open to all parts of the country. Ahead of the presidential primaries on May

NLC fumes over FG’s silence on prolonged varsity workers’ strike

THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC , expressed anger over the Federal Government’s perpetual silence while public universities remained shut down for over two months. NLC lamented what it described as gross injustice in the society, where the political class was busy with 2023 electioneering activities and universities shut down indefinitely. Speaking to journalists before the commencement of the Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting preparatory to the May Day Commemoration, the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, decried the alleged injustice meted out on the four university-based unions and by extension, the children of the underprivileged who attend public universities.
