UNILAG VC: Ogunsola makes history
The new Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Professor Folashade Tolulope Ogunsola has made history as the first female VC of the institution. As far as the University of Lagos, UNILAG, is concerned, she is a history maker. In 2013, she was the first female to become the Provost of the College of Medicine, and incidentally, the 13th provost of the College. She left that office to become a Deputy Vice Chancellor of the university, the first female to do so, and when the institution was engulfed in crisis in 2020, she became the acting Vice Chancellor, also the first woman to hold that position. Last October, history also beckoned on her in a positive manner when she was selected the VC, among top academics that applied to become the VC of the 60-year-old institution. She thus became the first female VC of UNILAG and also the 13th substantive VC.
