Driver escapes death as vehicle falls off Otedola Bridge
Tragedy struck in the early hours, yesterday, when a Toyota Camry with plate number KJA 126 BH, veered off the upper deck of the Otedola Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The driver of the vehicle, a woman, narrowly escaped death. According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred about 9.35a.m. According to preliminary findings, the female motorist, while travelling at an excessive speed, abruptly applied her brakes upon perceiving another vehicle maneuvering into the service lane ahead of her. The sudden deceleration destabilised her vehicle, causing it to veer uncontrollably and ultimately plummet off the bridge, leaving her critically injured. Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA personnel, in prompt coordination with allied emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, LSNSC, and the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, arrived at the scene on time.
