2-storey building erected in cemetery collapses in Ibadan
A two-storey building built on land formally used as a cemetery, around Adabor Junction, Ashi in Bodija area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, Sunday collapsed. It would be recalled that a five-storey hotel building collapsed in the same Bodija axis about four weeks ago. A resident, Tunde Abulesowo, said the land on which the two-storey building was built was formally used as a cemetery before it was sold to the developer. He said: “When the land was sold, the corpses in the cemetery were exhumed before the building was erected, the building was built during former Governor Alao Akala’s administration. “The building has been giving a sign of crack before it later came down. Millions of naira worth of goods and property were trapped in the rubble. “We are making efforts to salvage the goods and make sure hoodlums do not have access to it so that they won’t cart them away.
