The body said that each of the nation’s tertiary institutions is now authorised to peg its admission benchmark or cut off mark, but added that it should not go below 120 points for Universities and 100 points for Polytechnic and Colleges of Education. The decision was taken at the 2021 policy meeting which held virtually yesterday, presided over by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu. Already, universities, polytechnics and colleges of education have sent their various cut-off marks to JAMB. Labour warns FG: We’ll shut Nigeria if you increase fuel pump price, electricity tariff

ORGANISED Labour has warned the Federal Government against any further hike in the pump price of fuel and electricity tariff. National Auditor of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and President of the National Union of Chemical, Footwear, Rubber, Leather and Non-Metallic Products Employees, NUCFLANMPE, Babatunde Olatunji, gave the warning while speaking at the union’s 29th Annual Nationwide Industrial Relations. He said: “Increasingly, we are hearing rumours and insinuations that the Federal Government is planning to increase the pump price of fuel and also electricity tariff. Court remands woman for biting neighbour’s scrotum

A Magistrates Court sitting in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has remanded one Nifemi Ajayi, 28, for allegedly biting her neighbour’s scrotum. Nifemi was docked before the court on a count charge bordering on assault occasioning harm. Police Prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, informed the court that the defendant on  August 24, 2021, at 21, Oke-Soda area, Ile-Ife bit one Olayera Boluwaji on the scrotum around 8 pm. He added that the defendant also bit the victim’s stomach and inflicted injury on him. Osanyintuyi added that the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against her. Defence counsel, Mr Philip Fasanmoye, in his oral application urged the court to admit the defendant to bail in most liberal terms, saying she would not jump bail, but would produce credible surety to guarantee her readiness to face trial. By Abimbola Oloyede  THE   Department of State Service (D SS ) has released eight out of the detained 12 associates of the Yoruba nation advocate, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho . According to their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the eight associates were released on Monday, August 30, 2021. He said the detainees’ legal team, which he heads,was working to get the remaining four associates of the detention very soon. Those released are: Abdulateef Onaolapo, Tajudeen Erinoye, Diekola Jubril, Ayobami Donald, Uthman Adelabu, Oluwafemi Kunle, Raji Kazeem and Bamidele Sunday. Captain Abdukkarim Bala Na'Allah UNKNOWN gunmen, yesterday, killed the son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, Captain Abdulkarim Bala Na Allah, at his Kaduna home.   It was gathered that the 36-year-old pilot was found dead in a bedroom in his home at the Malali GRA Kaduna.   An aide to Senator Na’Allah, Alhaji Garba Mohammed, said Captain Abdulkarim Bala Na Allah, who married recently, was tied and strangled to death by the killers. “The killers took his vehicle and personal belongings. They gained entrance to the house through the roof behind the house and entered his section through the ceiling.
