Gunmen kill Senator Na Allah’s son, steal vehicle

UNKNOWN gunmen, yesterday, killed the son of Senator Bala Na’Allah, Captain Abdulkarim Bala Na Allah, at his Kaduna home.
It was gathered that the 36-year-old pilot was found dead in a bedroom in his home at the Malali GRA Kaduna.
An aide to Senator Na’Allah, Alhaji Garba Mohammed, said Captain Abdulkarim Bala Na Allah, who married recently, was tied and strangled to death by the killers.
“The killers took his vehicle and personal belongings. They gained entrance to the house through the roof behind the house and entered his section through the ceiling.
Reacting to the development, Kaduna State Government through the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said “ in what appears to be a case of culpable homicide, the deceased was found in a bedroom of his residence Malali, Kaduna North LGA, apparently after having been strangled with a rope. A vehicle was stolen from his parking lot by the assailants. “
“In another incident, armed bandits killed one Ahmadu Tanko at Janwuriya, Kajuru LGA.
“Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed deep sadness at the reports and prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims, and sent his heartfelt condolences to their families. The Governor urged security agencies to conduct vigorous investigations towards apprehending the perpetrators of the attacks. Security agencies are investigating the incidents. “
Meanwhile, security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State government that two persons were killed by bandits in Makoro Iri village of Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State.
The State Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed, yesterday, that the bandits invaded the remote village and shot dead the duo identified as Gideon Mumini and Barnabas Ezra.
Samuel Aruwan also revealed that three travellers were rescued from armed bandits along the Gidan Waya-Godogodo road, in Jema’a Local Government Area (LGA), of the state.
He said the travellers were abducted by bandits who barricaded the road.
“Troops responded to a distress call, and pursued the bandits, rescuing the victims. The rescued travellers’ vehicle, a Peugeot 307, was also recovered.
“Responding to the report of the rescue, Governor Nasir El-Rufai, commended the troops for the swift response,” Aruwan said.
Modakeke killings: 2 suspects arrested
Osun State Police Command, yesterday, confirmed fresh killings in Alapata village via Toro in Modakeke town as two dead bodies were discovered on a farm on Saturday.
The command also disclosed that two persons have been arrested in connection with the killings while it is on the trail of other suspects.
It would be recalled that five persons were on August 20 killed by unknown assailants, which almost led to a communal clash between Ife and Modakeke indigenes but for the timely intervention of security operatives.
No one has been arrested in connection with the August 20 murder before last Saturday incident.
It was gathered that some gunmen rounded up four persons working on a farm in the village and took them hostage. However, one of the victims, a female, who escaped with a gun wound on her hand, ran back to the community to alert others.
A resident, Olawale Adegoke, said people quickly mobilised to the scene but on getting there, they met two dead bodies and another villager missing.
He said: “A woman ran back to the community with a wound on her hand. She told us that some gun-wielding people were trying to kill her and three others working on a farm.
“We quickly mobilised to the farm but when we got there, the gunmen had already killed two of their victims and escaped. We alerted the people in the town and they informed the police. We are still searching for one of the victims.”
While confirming the incident, the Police spokesperson in the state, Yemisi Opalola, said two suspects in connection with the killings have been arrested.
Opalola said: “It is true four persons were declared missing in the village and two of them were eventually killed by their assailants. However, the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has relocated to the area with operatives.
“Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder. We are trailing those on the run. We prevailed on the residents of the area to report any suspected persons to the police.”
She added that bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife.
Flood submerges building belonging to mother of 9
Destroys bag of beans, tubers of yam, bakery, others
A building belonging to a mother of nine, Chibuzor Enyioha, has been submerged by flood at Amuzari market square, in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The woman, her children and others affected by the flood were seen looking helpless, yesterday, during a visit to the Amuzari community.
Mrs Enyioha, who sells akara and yam, said their belongings have been damaged three times this year as they have no other place to go to and no money to relocate out of the flood-prone area.
According to her, “this is the third time this flood is destroying our shops and houses, including our belongings. One bag of beans and 50 tubers of yam that I bought for business were all destroyed by the flood. What I use in feeding my family and my source of income have been damaged.”
Another victim, a baker, Bernard Ezebuike, said his bakery was completely submerged by the flood that forced him to abandon his business, and “displaced over 18 persons from the community that were employed in the bakery, even the vehicle that we use to distribute bread was destroyed by the flood.”
NDLEA arrests man for ingesting 87 wraps of cocaine
Seizes 400.37kg illicit drugs in Anambra, C/River, FCT, MMIA
A drug kingpin, Mr Ibeh Ejike, was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, (NAIA) Abuja for ingesting 87 wraps of cocaine.
The 41-year-old suspect, who was arrested on Wednesday, 25th August 2021, upon his arrival on board an Ethiopian Airline flight 911 from Kigali via Addis Ababa, was taken in for secondary check during which he tested positive for ingestion of the illicit substance.
A statement by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy said, “While under observation, he excreted 87 pellets of cocaine weighing 1.884 kilogrammes.
“Ibeh, who imports clothes for sale, hails from Owerrizikeala village in Orumba LGA of Anambra state”.
In the same vein, a Lagos-based drug dealer, Eze Okorie, has been arrested following the interception of 4.15 kilograms of methamphetamine consignment going to London, the United Kingdom.
Babafemi said the drug was intercepted at the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, (MMIA) Ikeja, on August 13.
He said the drug was concealed in tins of tomato branded ‘sunripe’ and packaged for the driver of a freight forwarding company to deliver at the airport export shed for onward movement to the UK.
“Though the freight company’s driver was initially arrested, follow up investigations and subsequent sting operation led to the arrest of the kingpin behind the consignment.''
“Okorie was arrested at his Coker, Surulere, Lagos, home on Wednesday, Aug. 25. He hails from Isu village in Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State,” said Babafemi.
Meanwhile, he said the raid of drug joints continued across the states in the last week, and that one Anietie Attauba was arrested at Idundu community, Cross River state with 9.9 grams of cocaine.
He added that a 23-year-old Joy Odey was picked up.
Customs recover pistol, ammunition inside ‘Tokunbo vehicle’ at Tin Can Port
THE Tin Can Island Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted a fairly used imported vehicle popularly known as ‘Tokunbo’ a 2003 Toyota Camry with a pistol and its magazine while the vehicle was being cleared out at the Car Park C’ of the Tin Can Port.
Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed to Vanguard that the driver of the vehicle and the clearing agent arranging for its delivery and exit from the terminal were arrested by the customs.
The arrested suspects were subsequently handed over to the Enforcement Team of the Tin Can Customs Command.
Confirming the development, the Public Relation Officer of the Command, Mr Uche Ejieseme, said he does not have the details of the seizure of the offensive item, adding that by today, Monday, he would have been armed with enough details to share with the public.
He said that in line with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) of the command, the Department of State Service (DSS) were called in alongside other security agencies and that the exhibit has been taken to the customs enforcement unit for further investigation.
