Customs impounds container load of rifles from Turkey
THE Nigeria Custom Service, Port Harcourt Area II, Onne said it has impounded a 1x40 foot container of assorted rifles imported into the country through the Onne free port. The container with the inscription MAEU165396, which originated from Turkey was seized on June 21 after a thorough physical examination and its risk factors’ consequences on the country’s security were considered. Addressing newsmen at Onne Command, yesterday, Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, said the container bores 844 units of rifles, 112,500 pieces of live ammunition. Adeniyi gave the breakdown as follows: 764 units of Tomahawk Jojef Magnum Black Pump Action Rifles, 10 units of VC Verney Caron Gunmakers Jojef Magnum Silver Pump Action Rifles, 50 units of VC Verney Caron Gunmaker Double Barrel Rifles, 20 units of VC Verney Caron Gunmaker Single Barrel Rifles, Exclusive Series, Sterling High-Quality Live Ammunition 34g - 25 Plastic Shotgun Shells (70MM). “The rifles and ammunition were co...
