Cabinet impasse: Sanwo-Olu, Obasa parley as GAC wades in
IN a move to resolve the current impasse between the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the House of Assembly over rejection of 17 cabinet nominees, members of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC, yesterday, held a closed door meeting with the governor and Speaker, Mr Mudashiru Obasa. GAC, which is the apex decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is led by Tajudeen Olusi. The meeting, according to a credible source, which was slated for 4pm, was aimed at resolving the dispute. It was not clear at press time if members of the state Assembly were invited. Governor Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Speaker Obasa, Olusi and GAC members attended the truce meeting. The parties were engaged at a meeting that lasted several hours. As at press time, it could not be confirmed the level of reconciliation reached with Obasa on-behalf of the Assembly members.
