SCARCITY:  As fuel scarcity bites harder, it increases long queues in some filling stations.Vehicles at Oando filling station, Ketu, Alapere bus stop along Lagos-Ibadan expressway .  A septuagenarian, Ohalete Njoku, who allegedly murdered his younger brother, Austin Njoku, yesterday, over a land tussle in Umumbasi, Amaraku, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, has been handed over to the police. It was gathered that the youths of the area, who carried out the arrest, strapped the suspect with palm fronds, as they forced him to carry the victim on his laps while conveying him in a wheelbarrow out of the community. The suspect was later taken to a police station by the youths. When interrogated, the suspect claimed he killed his brother, a truck pusher, while asleep for allegedly taking over the only piece of land belonging to the family. He said he was angered by his younger brother’s action, which he submitted should have been his own by being the first son of the family. A

THE National  Welfare Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Olukunle Edun , has said it is an infringement on the constitutional rights to liberty of movement for Vehicle Inspection Officers, VIOs, to stop drivers of both commercial and private vehicles  because of vehicle particulars. Edun, who instituted and won the landmark cases against VIOs at the High Court and Appeal Court, said that it was also hazardous for members of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, to be competing with the Nigerian Police Force on the road in the alleged extortion of members of the public. Cultists clash claimed 10 souls

Photo; Vanguard/ NO fewer than 10 persons were reportedly killed when two rival cult groups clashed in Ilesa, Osun State, Monday. A source said the killings were a reprisal attack for the killing in Odogbo-Ijesa on Saturday. An eyewitness, Adeosun Azeez, said the clash started from the Irojo area of the town around 7 pm before it spread to other communities like Brewery, Ifofin, Idasa, where the cultists have a stronghold. The source said: “Some guys on a motorcycle started shooting around Irojo inflicting injuries on residents, who scampered for safety. Then in what looks like a revenge attack, another set confronted them and both groups engaged in a shootout. “Other cultists from other hideouts joined in the fracas, thereby spreading the crisis to other parts of the town.
