I’ll take AWAMN to the next level, says Oriyomi

Oriyomi who is the CEO of Excellens Links International Company, a Private Sector Partnership (PSP) operator in Oshodi, made the promise during his interview with The Harbinger. Excerpts: How do you intend to curb the re-occurrence of the face-off between PSP operators and state government? This is by maintaining a cordial relationship with the government, PSP operators and holding a regular meeting with LAWMA. What is your plan to take AWAMN to the next level? The call was contained in a release issued by the Acting Managing Director of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni on Wednesday, noting that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure that the celebration was observed in a filth-free environment. Third Mainland repair: LAGFERRY increases daily operation

The Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) says it will increase daily operations on most of the routes and add two new ones to help commuters during the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAGFERRY, Mr Abdoulbaq Balogun, disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Odusina Akeem, the Public Affairs Officer of the firm recently. Balogun said that the steps were part of the efforts to cushion the effect of proposed partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge on the commuting public. Newsmen report the partial closure of the bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works, expected to last six months from July 24, is to fix worn out expansion joints. According to Balogun, the state government has concluded arrangements to commence operations on two new routes with the ferries. LASG to set up food production in Epe, Badagry

By Abimbola Oloyede Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that the State Government would establish two food production centers in Epe and Badagry to be known as Lagos Food Production Centres in order to ensure sustained food production and supply in the state. Governor Sanwoolu  who spoke in Lagos at the symbolic distribution of agricultural inputs and productive assets to 2,743 farmers under the 2020 agricultural value chains empowerment programme explained that the two centres would ensure the resuscitation, expansion, stocking of agricultural production facilities in various value chains. Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat  noted that the two centers would also develop Agro-Tourism centres in Badagry and the Agricultural Training Institute, Araga, Epe. The Governor pointed out that in addition, the State Government would also establish the Lagos Aquaculture Centre of Excellence (LACE), a ten Billion Naira project to be located on a 35 Hectar

LASG vows to sanction schools without Quality Assurance Clearance

Lagos State government, has vowed to sanction schools that fail to get the required Quality Assurance Clearance from the Ministry of Education. Addressing a press conference, the Director-General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, explained that candidates already enrolled for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE would still be able to take the examinations, but the schools would not go unpunished. She said: “It is mandatory that all private school owners in Lagos State register with the Office of Education Quality Assurance before reopening of schools. School owners are advised to comply strictly with this directive that will be of immense benefit to them. Evaluators will be out to monitor compliance after the expiration of the timeline granted.”

FG rolls out schedule for WAEC, NECO, others

Federal Government, has released a comprehensive schedule for various National Examinations for exit classes, spanning from August 17 to November 18, 2020. The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba, who made the announcement in Abuja after series of meetings with Chief Executives of examination bodies in the country said, the West African Examinations Council, (WAEC-SSCE) will start on August 17, 2020, while the National Business and Technical Examination Board, NABTEB, examinations will commence from September 21 to October 15, 2020.  In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ben Bem Goong, the Minister said other details of the schedule indicate that the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, SSCE, for SS3, conducted by NECO will start on October 5 and end on November 18, 2020. By Iyabode Ishola NIGERIA yesterday recorded 404 new cases of Coronavirus and 5 deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 42,208 According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, 272,748 samples were tested so far; while 19,004 Coronavirus patients have been successfully treated and discharged, as active cases  22,331; and 873 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Education District VI distributes mobile device, radio units to secondary school students

Lagos State Education District VI has commenced distribution of mobile devices and radio units to students in Mafoluku Senior Grammar School and Ewutuntun Junior Grammar School as support to enhance the learning of the students. Speaking at the flag off of the programme, the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Awofisayo, said as part of the State Government efforts to ensure that learning does not stop at any point with the students, the government has partnered with well meaning organisations to procure radio and mobile phone devices for students in the Junior and Senior Schools respectively. Coronavirus: MFM calls for 70 days fasting

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM, worldwide, has directed its members to continue with the ongoing special Power Must Change Hands prayers to seek a solution to the COVID-19 Pandemic The General Overseer of the Ministry, worldwide, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, who handed down the directive, also announced that the annual 70 days fasting and Prayer programme of the Ministry will soon commence. Olukoya, who promised to announce when the 70 Days fasting programme will start, also said that the ongoing July Power Must Change Hands prayers should be repeated in August.
