Ronaldo seals Man Utd return

By Ayomikun Emmanuel

CRISTIANO RONALDO has dedicated his Manchester United transfer to Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Portuguese superstar took to Instagram after his £12.8million move was confirmed and said: “Sir Alex, this one is for you...”

Ronnie, 36, posted a picture of himself celebrating at Old Trafford during his first spell.

And he posted a touching message alongside and spoke of his ‘never ending love for Man Utd’. The former Real Madrid ace wrote: “Everyone who knows me, knows about my never ending love for Manchester United.

“The years I spent in this club were absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.

“I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide.

“It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Man Utd, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands.

“This is absolutely 100 per cent the stuff that dreams are made of.

“My first domestic league, my first cup, my first call to the Portuguese national team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d’Or.

“They were all born from this special connection between me and the Red Devils. History has been written in the past and history will be written once again! You have my word!

“I’m right here! I’m back where I belong! Let’s make it happen once again!

“PS - Sir Alex, this one is for you…”

United, Ronaldo and Juve officially announced the transfer on Friday morning.

Ronnie has signed a two-year deal, with the option of an additional 12 months, worth a whopping £480,000-a-week.

He completed a medical in Lisbon over the weekend.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon ace could cost United a further £6.8m if he meets certain performance objectives.

And the Red Devils will still be paying Juventus for the superstar by the time he reaches 41.

That is because United have split the payment over five years.

Chelsea agree £4.5m loan with Atletico Madrid for Niguez

CHELSEA yesterday landed their second major signing of the summer in Saul Niguez.

A deal has been agreed to take the midfielder on loan from Atletico Madrid for £4.5million.

The Blues will then have the option to sign Saul on a permanent basis for around £40m at the end of the season.

It had been reported only days ago that talks between the clubs had broken down.

But a breakthrough has been reached, helped along by Atletico’s move to bring Antoine Griezmann back to the Spanish capital. The French forward is linked with a switch from Barcelona, which could see Joao Felix heading to the Camp Nou.

Saul, 26, had been put forward as a candidate for the swap deal earlier in the summer.

But the Spain international is now set to reinforce Thomas Tuchel’s midfield following the loan departures of Danny Drinkwater, Conor Gallagher, Ethan Ampadu and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Juventus confirm return of Moise Kean

Juventus have confirmed the loan signing of striker Moise Kean from Everton, two years on from his initial departure for Goodison Park.

Kean, 21, still has three years left on his five-year deal on Merseyside, but has struggled for regular first-team action and was sent out on loan to PSG last season.

And after it was revealed that Juventus were exploring a return for the youngster, the club have now officially announced the deal, which will last for two years.

Don’t let Cristiano take free-kicks — Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand believes Bruno Fernandes should give up penalty-taking duties to Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United but not let the latter take free-kicks.

Portuguese forward Ronaldo was officially confirmed as a United player on Tuesday after the Red Devils agreed a £19.8million deal with Juventus for the 36-year-old.

Fernandes is currently United’s set-piece specialist and has scored 21 penalties and two free-kicks for the club since joining at the start of 2020, but Ferdinand says spot kick duty should return to former team-mate Ronaldo.

Ndombele remains at Tottenham

Tanguy Ndombele will stay at Tottenham after all. The French midfielder has found himself marginalised by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo since he arrived in the summer and has not featured despite being fit to play.

Ndombele was believed to be looking to move on but Sky Sports News report that both the club and the player have accepted they have left it too late to find a ‘suitable deal’ to allow him to leave.

Real Madrid sign Eduardo Camavinga!

Real Madrid have secured one supremely talented Frenchman. Teenage Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has joined for a €31m (£26.6m) fee.

Chelsea block Callum Hudson-Odoi from leaving

Chelsea have blocked the potential loan exit of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The England international was recently the subject of a loan bid from Borussia Dortmund, while Leicester City were also credited with an interest.

He was open to a move to secure regular first-team football, but the Blues have decided to keep him with Thomas Tuchel wanting sufficient squad depth.

Leicester land Lookman

Ademola Lookman has joined       Leicester City on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.

The forward has moved to the King Power Stadium after completing a medical in the East Midlands.

Lookman spent last season on loan at Fulham, netting four goals from the left in 34 appearances, including the opener in the Cottagers’ 2-1 win at Leicester.

Mendes joins PSG

Nuno Mendes joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an option to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The option to buy will be for £34.3million, rewarding Sporting Lisbon for their role in the left-back’s incredible development.

Lisbon will also receive a £6m loan fee.
