Tipper truck crushes 6 to death

TRAGEDY struck at Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday, as six persons were reportedly crushed to death and several others severely wounded by a tipper truck.

The incident which occurred around the College Junction threw residents into confusion.

Sources said the heavy duty vehicle was conveying sand to a building construction site when the driver lost control and rammed into motorcyclists, pedestrians and other road users.

A source in the community said six persons died on the stop while those that sustained varying degrees of injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital.

“The vehicle suffered break failure and the driver lost control at the College Junction axis of the town.

“The vehicle rammed into commercial motorcycles, vehicles, passersby and started killing people.

“The number of persons counted that had died before they were rushed to the hospital were about six,” the source said.

Man killed for sleeping with kingsman's wife

A 60-year-old man, Ukaegbu Ogii, has been stabbed to death over an alleged sexual relationship with the wife of his kinsman, in Ndiolumbe community, Isiala Ngwa South council of Abia State. A community source said that the attacker , identified as Nkume, allegedly stabbed Ogii following an argument over an alleged sexual affair with Nkume's wife. Some eyewitnesses alleged that Nkume used a dagger to stab him in the neck. Ogii died before he could receive medical attention, while his attacker fled before the youths were alerted to the scene. It was also gathered that Nkume had at several times confronted Ogii, accusing him of having an affair with his wife,leaving him with an injury during one of the occasions.
