Sanwo-Olu commissions 15 new ferries

....Says it'll boost Lagos economy

LAGOS State governor Babajide Sanwo-Oluhas assured intending passengers that the newly launched 15 locally-built commercial ferries will not only boost the economy of the state, but will also enhance accessibility and provide convenience by decongesting the road networks further.

Sanwo-Olu, who said this at Badore Ferry Terminal, in Ajah area of the state, stated that the ferries will equally boost water transportation.

According to him: "We have diligently revitalized our water transport infrastructure through strategic investments in modern ferries and upgraded terminals.

“Today marks a momentous occasion as we commemorate the first year of my second term in office. I am honoured to stand before you at the Badore Terminal to unveil 15 newly acquired ferries, a significant milestone in our quest to revolutionize transportation in Lagos State.

“By introducing these 15 new ferries, we are not only saving countless hours otherwise lost in traffic but also optimizing our public investment in water transportation.”

Also speaking, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said: “We celebrate the launch of the new Omi-Bus Ferries, a testament to our collective commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Lagos residents.

"This initiative is a bold step towards achieving a more efficient, sustainable, and accessible transportation system, reflecting our unwavering dedication to progress and innovation.”
