THE headteacher, Fadu Primary School in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mrs. Victoria Ogunleye has promised to improve the welfare of the pupils and bring academic excellence to the school.

Ogunleye stated this in a chat with The Harbinger Magazine during the school’s inter-house sports. She urged parents to join hands with her in bringing development to the school.

She said: “There is no profession without challenges. As the new headteacher, some of the challenges I faced when I resumed school were the truancy of the pupils, getting to school late, and improper dressing. 

“Some pupils will not like to come to school, we have to persuade them.  While some pupils will come with torn uniforms and sandals. Even some will come without eating, we get food for them, and persuade them to attend class. Also, some of them get to school late, but their lateness to school has been curbed and we have instilled discipline into their minds.

“I am pleading with the parents to ensure that their children attend class, turn in their assignments on time, dress appropriately for school, and eat before leaving.”

Speaking on the roles of the parents, she said: “It is important for the parents to work together with teachers to give their best to the pupils. Whenever the school needs their attention, they should try to respond in time.

“The parents also should monitor their children at home and guide them in their class work.”

On the security of the school premises, Ogunleye called on the security agencies to secure the school premises for the safety of the pupils and ward off hoodlums that could damage the school property. 

Earlier, at the school biennial inter-house sports, Ogunleye said that sports help to build the intellectual ability and physical aptitude of pupils.

Sports teach discipline, respect, friendship, leadership, teamwork, and overcoming adversity. Not all students are good at studying, but some are good at sports. I appreciate the efforts, and contributions of patrons and matrons of our various houses, such as Hon. Prince Daniel Olusegun Oduse of Blue House; Mr. Ligali Falal Adeleke of Green House., Alhaja Idowu Agbetoba of Pink House, and Barrister Larentia Chiejina of Yellow House.

“All parents of Fadu Memorial Primary School, I say a big thanks for your support.”

During the marchpass, Yellow House took the first position, while Blue House took second place. In overall medals, Green House won the golden trophy, while Blue House won the silver trophy.

The chairman of the occasion, Prince Oluwasegun Oduse, who was represented by Adeshola Adekoya, commended the school’s management for the well-coordinated event and for giving priority to the sports so that children could exhibit their nature-giving sports potential.

Green House topped the overall medal standings.

Blue House finished second in terms of total medals.

Pink House took 3rd position .
