The operation stretched from Mada station to Wakama, a mountainous area, where the criminals (kidnappers) use as hideout to keep their victims until a ransom is paid.

Spokesman of the command,  Ranham Nansel, in a statement, said during the search by the combined team of the operatives, the kidnappers deserted all the camps before the arrival of the operatives.

He said about 109 persons  suspected to be illegal miners  were arrested at different locations on the mountain carrying out illegal mining of solid minerals in places such as Topaz, Tin and Aquamarine.

The statement added: “A dane gun, cutlasses, knives, illegally mined solid minerals, etc were recovered from the suspects.

“The suspected miners have been profiled and investigation is ongoing. Commissioner of Police has ordered continuous clampdown on criminal hideouts in the state.”
