Security arrests rapist

Operatives of the Ogun State-owned security outfit, So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 21-year-old commercial tricyclist, Ridwan Lukman, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old groundnut hawker in Ota area of the state.

It was gathered that Lukman was arrested during a routine patrol in the area, he was allegedly attempting to force himself on the 14-year-old victim when the security operatives intervened.

Upon arrest, Lukman denied the allegations, claiming that he misunderstood the girl’s actions, thinking she was making advances towards him as he patronized her.

On further investigation, the victim underwent a medical examination which confirmed penetration.

The suspect was promptly transferred to the Sango Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Confirming the incident, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that the case was reported on January 12, 2024, by the victim’s mother.

She disclosed that a medical examination was conducted, and Lukman voluntarily admitted to the unlawful act during interrogation.

“The suspect will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation,” added Odutola.

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
