NURTW leadership tussle: Oloyede commends Oluomo, Sego reconciliation

Chairman, Oshodi-solo LGA, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede has commended the  peaceful resolution of the leadership tussle rocking the Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The incumbent Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (Mc Oluomo) and his successor, Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Sego) have been commended for embracing peace and shunning any form of animosity.

He praised the duo and other stakeholders for achieving peace in the intra-union leadership squabble, adding that the peace move has once again showed that truly Lagos is in the hands of the progressives.

Also, the council boss commended the Governor of  Lagos State, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu for championing the peace move, and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Tayo Ayinde. 

According to Oloyede, "the news of the peaceful resolution of the leadership crisis in the Lagos Chapter of the NURTW is a cherry one for me, it's the greatest news to end the year 2023. Let me commend the dramatis personae, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc Oluomo) and Alhaji Adekunle (Sego) for their commitment to peace in the union and state in general. They have displayed uncommon commitment to progress and development of the state. As our own brother in Oshodi, Mc Oluomo's move to the national secretariat as the National President designate of the union is indeed a happy news, we wish him nothing but success.  Our thoughts and prayers are also with Alh. Adekunle and we wish him a successful tenure as he pilots the affairs of the union in Lagos State Chapter.

"Let me equally salute the unparalleled support and cooperation of the number one citizen of Lagos, my own boss, Governor Sanwo-Olu, for initiating and seeing to the resolution of the internal wrangling in the NURTW. He has once again displayed his capability and administrative acumen, it shows Lagos is in safe hands with Mr Governor.

"This peaceful resolution is also a manifestation that truly, Lagos is in the hands of the progressives and so development in all spheres will be witnessed from time to time", he concluded.

The council boss urged the union leadership at all levels to maintain the peace accord and ensure safety of lives and property in the parks and garages across the state.

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government through  a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.  The minister, who congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter, urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  He reiterated that the goal of the government remained taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity.
