Land dispute between two communities claims 7 lives

A land dispute between Gbagyi and Bassa ethnic groups in Kudu village of Toto local government area of Nasarawa State has reportedly claimed about seven lives.

It was gathered that the crisis erupted when Bassa ethnic group allegedly invaded a community in Gbagyi settlement to carry out farming activities. 

Eyewitness said  scores  sustained injuries, while houses and farm produce worth millions of naira were destroyed following the clash between the two communities

Meanwhile, Governor Abdullahi Sule has given assurance that the government was on top of the situation in which normalcy was gradually returning to the warring communities.

The governor said this while presiding over an emergency executive council meeting at the Government House, Lafia, yesterday.

He said the APC government in Nasarawa State would not allow distractions to bring a setback in its fight against insecurity.

“The security agencies have already moved in there and we will be able to get to the bottom of it. But most importantly the moment we return from Abuja we are going to have a meeting of the Gbagyi, the Egbirra and Bassa communities so that at the end of the day, we have to bring this to an end. It cannot go on in this unfortunate circle,” Governo Sule stated.
