9 rescued, 11 trapped, as 4-storey-building collapses

NINE out of 20 persons who were feared trapped in the rubble of a four-storey hotel building, which collapsed, yesterday, in Dape, Life Camp, Abuja, have been rescued.

The building, which was under construction at the time of the collapse is said to be owned by one of the top hotels in the territory.

According to the eyewitnesses at the site, the hotel, which has an underground facility, had no fewer than 20 persons trapped.

While emergency responders and security personnel were on ground for rescue operations, officials of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, said nine persons had been rescued at 9pm, yesterday.

Oyo school kidnap: We can’t risk more lives in rescue efforts — Soun

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government through  a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.  The minister, who congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter, urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  He reiterated that the goal of the government remained taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity.
