Gunmen abduct PDP chieftain

A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State,  Chief Eyo Edet, popularly called Eyo Aswang has been kidnapped by gunmen.

It was gathered that Edet, who is the Chairman of Eyotech Oil Nigeria Limited, was accosted by his abductors on Monday evening, when he visited his filling station at Marina Road, Oron.

They were said to have beaten him  before  whisking  him away in their Sienna vehicle and subsequently transferred him into a waiting speed boat on the sea side and set the Sienne vehicle that they came with for the operation ablaze. 

The abductors were yet to establish contact with the family at press time.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity said: “He was there at his filling station when the boys came. They dragged him into their Sienna and shot sporadically into the air. They took him to a spot and put him into a speed boat and set fire on their vehicle.”

Meanwhile, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Odiko Macdon, confirmed the incident and said the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, had ordered investigation into the matter.

He said: “We received the information, the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi has visited the scene of the incident and went to the waterfront even the Sienne used to perpetuate the act that was burnt has been recovered. 

“Investigations have commenced already and I’m sure the perpetrators will be brought to book in no distant time.”
