3 killed, property burnt in community attack
THERE was a fresh attack, Sunday evening, at Kombili community, Panyam district of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The community was earlier attacked and some people were killed about three weeks ago, when armed men engaged in about one week-long killing and burning of property in about 30 different communities in the council.
Residents of the community had fled and were yet to return since May 16, 2023, incident.
A resident, Hosea said: “Some people were killed in Kombili community, Panyam District of Mangu council on 04/06/2023. The COCIN Church, property and houses were burnt down with farm crops destroyed by the Fulani militia.”
State Police Command did not confirm the incident at press time, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, said: “I have not heard. I have not spoken with my DPO yet.”
But Reverend Hezekiah Olaleye, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, District Chairman in Mangu said: “It’s true that houses were burnt at Kombili in the night and two people were killed.”
Also, National President of Mwaghavul Development Association, the umbrella body of the native tribe in Mangu, Sir Joseph Gwankat confirmed the incident.
He said: “It happened yesterday (Sunday) in the evening, three people have been confirmed killed, the remaining houses and church were burnt.”
