 ...for benefit of national devt says Administrator

Folashade Florence Thomas is one of the few Nigerians who believes that standard education is one of the avenues nations attain economic, social and national developments. Folashade who also believes in catching them young with good foundation for learning studied Computer Science Education at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun state. The young administrator of Shepherd Voice Group of School, is a certified educator who takes the pleasure in guiding and nurturing young ones to their desired goals.

In this interview Folashade, revealed the role of quality education in a growing economy like Nigeria. Excerpts:

Coming from the background of Computer Science Education, now the administrator of Shepherd Voice Group of School, how do you feel?

Yes! coming from the background of  Computer Science Education, I appreciate the process and journey so far from the days of being a student teacher and as a young teacher till this moment. The process has altogether made me stronger and well-equipped personnel.

Tell us your experience since you became the administrator of the school?

Well being the administrator of the school means I work directly or indirectly with everyone in the organisation, the pupils/ students, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents and even colleagues at the ministry of Education.  So far, I have learnt from people and it gives me pleasure to guide and nurture young ones to their desired goals. I also have a mandate to put smile on their faces and ensure they bring joy to their parents and the society.

In what way do you think, quality education can play role in our economic and national development?

First, what is quality education, I think quality education focuses on a child or individuals social, emotional, physical, mental and cognitive development regardless of their gender and geographical location.

Therefore if we consider all these areas, education will help an individual or a child harness opportunities and resources around him or her. It will also help them measure out ways they can benefits from these opportunities and directly improve the economy 

In helping youth development, what should we do?

Some of the highlights to improve the development of our youth includes, guidance and systematic counselling. Again, we also need to enhance our curriculum to suits our style of economy and that of other countries.

Tell us your challenges grooming and nurturing Nigerian children in the place of learning for future development?

Another challenge in  grooming Nigerian child in the place of learning is getting them to settle. There are so many activities taking there attention.  For instance, social media where they spend much times because they have a lot of energy too and they want to exercise those muscles. 

They are also very adventurous, they want to learn and know about everything so fast. Getting them to settle and focus will require skills and wisdom.

Another major challenge is parental negligence. A lot of parents are carried away with the activities of making money and pursuing their own career. The  children or the youth  needs some level of monitoring.
