300-level student of UNN dies during picnic
A 300-level student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, identified as Chidozie Ezeoma, has been found dead after he joined his classmates on a picnic at Adada dam, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
It was gathered that the deceased, who was the first son of his parents, was not found when his classmates took head count of those who went for the picnic, forcing them to return to the dam, only to find his dead body in the water.
However, there was confusion due to marks of violence on the deceased’s body.
Some of the deceased’s classmates expressed shock at his death, adding that he was a good swimmer and may not have died in the dam.
A source identified as Zion Ebuka, who briefed newsmen on the incident, said: “It was gathered that Chidozie went to Adada dam at Nkpologu, Uzo-Uwani of Enugu State with some of his classmates. After having fun in the water, they went back to Nsukka and everybody went to their various homes.
“It was later that his classmates discovered that they didn’t come back with one of their members. Calls and searches were made. Sadly, he was found inside the water dead.”
The deceased was a student of Biochemistry Department in the Faculty of Biological Sciences, UNN. He was also the Director of Games at the Alvan Ikoku Boys Hostel in UNN.
Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesperson of UNN, Okwun Omeaku, proved abortive as his phone number was switched off at press time.
