Oshodi: Another container falls on commercial buses

The scene of accident where container fell on busses under the bridge at Oshodi. 

ON Wednesday, a container collapsed on some commercial buses in Lagos's densely crowded Oshodi area.

The incident happened just three days after a truck accident in Ojuelegba claimed the lives of nine people. In the same state, in the Ikotun area, a truck accident involving four tricycles lost the lives of two individuals. Additionally, a 20-foot container-laden vehicle toppled at Odo Iya Alaro, between the Maryland region of the state and Ojota New Garage, in a single accident two days ago.

However, no casualty was recorded in Oshodi incident.

According to eye witness, the driver of the truck apparently had a brake failure and in the driver’s bid to control the vehicle, it rammed into some commercial buses.

Some persons were said to have sustained injuries, as a result stampede to escape from being hit by the container.

One of the passengers, a trader who gave her name simply as Iya Modinat, said: “It was God that saved us. We rushed out of the bus before the container fell off. We are appealing to the Lagos State government to find a lasting solution to this recurrence.”

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
