I'll bring peace, harmony to Nigeria if… —Tinubu


•As Gov  Ganduje renames him Ashiru Bala Ahmad Tanimu

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday in Kano, pledged to bring peace and harmony to Nigeria if elected president, expressing optimism that APC would capture Kano State and Nigeria as a whole, in the forthcoming general elections.

Tinubu, who received a rousing reception in Kano for the flag-off of North West presidential campaign rally, thanked the people of the state for their overwhelming turn out, support and cooperation.

Tinubu who spoke in very few words also thanked the people of Kano saying nagode while promising to bring peace and harmony to Nigeria if elected president in the coming election

"I have come to Kano, all I want to do is dance. I will give you peace and harmony and will serve Nigeria. Nagode sosai", he stated. 

Earlier, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje renamed the presidential candidate in Hausa as Ashiru Bala Ahmad Tanimu in place of Asiwauju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that he is at home.

The governor described the crowd as the "Arafat of politics in Kano" while describing the state as the largest democracy in Nigeria. 

Ganduje also said the people of Kano have accepted Tinubu because of his credentials, capacity and credibility, adding that "he is tested and trusted while he served as the governor of Lagos State."

The Leader of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, dismissed allegations that there are APC governors negotiating with the opposition. 

He declared that all the governors in the party are supporting Tinubu, saying "The claims by some people that some APC governors are negotiating with the opposition is false. All our governors are in support of Tinubu's candidacy." 

Part of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the APC flag by the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, to the Kano gubernatorial candidate Nasiru Gawuna.

Other dignitaries present at the event, among others include the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, the Director General of the Presidential campaign Simon Lalong, serving and former governors, as well as the legislators from the North.

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government through  a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.  The minister, who congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter, urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  He reiterated that the goal of the government remained taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity.
