How 3 died, 9 injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Three persons died, weekend,  while nine others sustained injuries, in an accident involving a Nissan car and a Toyota Sienna at Fidiwo bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Mr. Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander, FRSC, in Ogun, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, yesterday, disclosed that the accident occurred at about 6pm, on Saturday, saying it was caused by speeding by the driver of the Nissan car.

He stated that the Nissan car, marked LSR 377 BL, had a tyre burst due to the high speed which led to the loss of control, thereby ramming into the Sienna car with number plate ABJ 24 XV.

He added that 14 people were involved, comprising nine male adults, four female adults and one male child.

The FRSC boss said that nine people sustained injuries while three persons died in the auto crash.

Umar said that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention and the deceased were deposited at the State Hospital mortuary, Isara.

Man killed for sleeping with kingsman's wife

A 60-year-old man, Ukaegbu Ogii, has been stabbed to death over an alleged sexual relationship with the wife of his kinsman, in Ndiolumbe community, Isiala Ngwa South council of Abia State. A community source said that the attacker , identified as Nkume, allegedly stabbed Ogii following an argument over an alleged sexual affair with Nkume's wife. Some eyewitnesses alleged that Nkume used a dagger to stab him in the neck. Ogii died before he could receive medical attention, while his attacker fled before the youths were alerted to the scene. It was also gathered that Nkume had at several times confronted Ogii, accusing him of having an affair with his wife,leaving him with an injury during one of the occasions. Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
