*Suspect sells baby for N400,000

Two women, Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, have been arrested by police operatives for allegedly operating a baby factory in Ogun State.

Iyama has reportedly sold up to three children from different women to her different customers and the last baby was sold for N400,000.

The suspects, according to a statement by the command Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, were arrested following information received by police at Agbado divisional headquarters.

The information has it that Christiana Iyama, who lives at 4, Ibrahim Famuyiwa Street, Agbado, Ogun State, is operating a baby factory, where she used to harbour young girls and hired men to impregnate them after which she will collect the baby on delivery and sell to her waiting buyers.

Oyeyemi said: “On receiving the information, the DPO, Agbado division, SP Awoniyi Adekunle, mobilised his detectives to the area where the said Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu were arrested.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Margaret Ogwu was one of the girls harboured by Christiana D’ivoire, who employed the service of a man to impregnate her and collected the child on delivery, which she sold at N400,000 to one of her customers.

“She also confessed to the Police that she has sold up to three children from different women to her customers.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has ordered the transfer of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

Sokoto Police rescue female trafficking victim, nab suspects

Meanwhile, one Precious Oke has been rescued from human traffickers at Illela border town of Sokoto State.

Parading the suspected traffickers, the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Gumel, said the victim, Miss Precious Oke. was trapped at Illela border town on her way to Niger Republic when she sighted police operatives and her trafficker asked her to go into hiding, which she complied.

The victim made a distress call to the Sokoto Police Public Relations Officer, who immediately alerted the police patrol team at Illela where Precious was traced and rescued 

The Quick Reaction Response Force, however, arrested two suspected facilitators at Illela and Sokoto metropolis.
