Chelsea, Bayern Munich eager to sign Ronaldo


Chelsea Football Club is making a move to sign Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, reports football.london

Likewise, Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, reported to have been in touch with the Portuguese striker over a potential deal as Erik ten Hag begins his reign at Old Trafford this summer. The former Real Madrid and Juventus talisman has reportedly asked to leave Manchester United this summer, with the striker eager to continue playing in the Champions League. The decision coming shortly after Todd Boehly discussed the possibility of bringing him to Chelsea this summer.

Ronaldo’s  future has been the subject of plenty of speculation since the Dutchman’s appointment was announced, and it is looking increasingly likely he could leave this summer.

The Athletic reported in June that new Chelsea chairman  Boehly  had held a meeting with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes over potential summer transfer pursuits. One topic raised was the potential signing of the 37-year-old. 

Chelsea are on the hunt for a new leading striker after Romelu Lukaku completed his return to Inter Milan on loan this summer for the 2022-23 campaign. Ronaldo emerged as a surprise target, but the possibility has become stronger after the Portugal legend’s latest decision.

Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government through  a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani.  The minister, who congratulated all Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the joyous occasion of Easter, urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.  He reiterated that the goal of the government remained taking decisions that would bring about national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity.
