Grant: Dawodu gives financial support to 100 constituents

“I am committed to human development and capacity building of the people in my constituency, that is the reason I have been organising numerous grants aimed at boosting their businesses and today’s programme is not an exception.”

Dr. Bashiru Ayinla Dawodu, member, House of Representatives, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1, stated this when he gave financial support to no fewer than 100 people in the constituency, saying the grants would continue for the next six months to the beneficiaries.

Reinstating his commitment to improve the well-being of the people in the constituency, he said that when people are well engaged, it brings peace and economic progress to the society, and reduce insecurity and crime rates.

According to Dawodu: “During my electioneering campaign, l promised to seek the opinion of every community member, what they needed most, and to provide it for them.

“Taking further steps and making sure that we leave no stone unturned, I have brought a junior secondary school to Shogunle community for accessible education of the children in the area”.

Dr. Dawodu who took the audience down the memory lane said, “Before I showed interest to contest for election, I have been carrying out community projects. I also facilitated several health programmes for my constituency people, where free medical checkups were carried out, and free drugs and reading glasses were distributed to them.

“During my electioneering campaign, I promised to sample community members’ opinion, and provide for them what they lack. Sogunle town requested for secondary school, which I facilitated, and junior secondary school has now been constructed for them. Ewu community demanded for a hospital, where ultra modern medical and maternal centers were built for them. 

“I have installed street lights in Adeyemi Street and we are extending it to other areas. This is a promise made and promise kept. My effort is a pay back to my community because I too enjoyed scholarship from primary school to high institution. It is not easy to build over 40 classrooms, in public schools in my constituency, if not for interest and determination. They will soon start work on Wahab Larinde Primary School and Afariogun Primary School.”

Dr. Dawodu has proved to be a kindhearted and worthy representative since he was elected into the Federal House of Representatives in 2019. He has carried out many projects including empowerment, infrastructural development, financial grants and youth capacity building.

Also, he has presented two school buses for convening pupils and students of the area to schools, He has distributed school bags, books and other educational materials to some primary school pupils. He gave scholarship to some students of the constituency. He gave educational grant and free JAMB forms to some students.

During coronavirus pandemic last year, he distributed free food and financial supports to some indigent persons.


He organised training for the youths and women and gave them free tools, such as motorcycles and tricycles, sewing machines, hairdryers etc.

He procured and installed a 3,000 KVA transformer for the supply of electricity for the residents of Titilayo and Olowokere streets.

December last year he gave financial grants to over 100 persons. Also last October, he gave financial support of N20,000 each to no fewer than 100 traders.

He thanked the Director-General of the National Film and Video Censor Board, NFVCB, Adedayo Aduke-Thomas, for his support to make the financial grant possible. 

 Adedayo Thomas, commended Dawodu’s laudable stride, and urged people to keep supporting his infrastructural development vision.


He said: “We appreciate Dawodu for ensuring that people of his constituency benefit from the dividends of democracy. Your performance has proved that you deserve a second term ticket”.

He called on a former member of the Lagos State House Assembly, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni, to look back, and not to forget Oshodi-Isolo, his political origin.

The speaker of the House, Oshodi-Isolo Local Governtment Area, Hon Adeshina Obasa, also applauded Dawodu’s passion for infrastructural development in the constituency.

He said: “If a society is good, it is through the proactive efforts of the leaders. we have to come together and have a symbiotic synergy. We need reconciliation and unity among all the members of APC.”

Pa J.O. Olabintan eulogised Dawodu for his selfless efforts in bringing dividends of democracy to the constituency. 

“Dawodu is a humble and good representative. He has interest in the progress of the party and the constituency,” said Olabintan.

Former Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Hon. Samuel Omotesho Aina, said: “We really appreciate Dawodu’s efforts, his achievement will give APC’s representatives easy victory at the next election. I commend Dawodu for the developmental projects he embarked upon in the community, and I want him to keep it up.”

On his part, Super Star Actor and Director, Keppy Ekpeyong said: “In the past view years, people were scared to come to Oshodi because of the negative activities in the area, but today the narration has changed in Oshodi, both in infrastructure and attitude of Oshodi people.”


He applauded Dawodu for his efforts in bringing development to the area.

Advising the beneficiaries, Ekpeyong told them to use the money to do something that will have positive impact on the people. 

Other leaders and elders in the community that graced the empowerment programme  at the council’s marriage registry hall are Elder Rafiu Abayomi Ogunoloko, Elder Salako, Alhaja Shobayo, Mrs. Badejoko, Prince S. O. Aina, Elder Ojo, Elder Osho, Hon. Bose Agbabiaka, and host of constituency members.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with The Harbinger News thanked Dr. Dawodu for the grant and urged other elected leaders to emulate him and pay back to the constituency that made them become politically prominent.
