A housewife, Queen Beatrice, has reportedly killed her husband, Emmanuel Ikukuni, with a plank for allegedly receiving a phone call from another woman in her presence in Okitipupa council area of Ondo State.

Also in Lagos, one David Idibie is currently in police custody for the murder of his wife, Juliana Idibie, at their residence over matrimonial issues.

Sources in Omotosho, Ondo State said lkukuni slumped after his wife hit him with a plank and before help could come from their neighbours, he gave up the ghost.

An eyewitness said: “By the time the neighbours could rush the husband to a nearby hospital he had died."

Speaking to newsmen, a sister to the deceased, Imoleayo Ikujuni, confirmed that the wife challenged her late brother for calling another lady in her presence.

She said: “During the fight, she hit him with a plank and he died instantly. They have arrested her. The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, in Akure for further investigation.”

A family member of the deceased said the corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

Contacted, the state police image maker, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the report, saying that police detectives have commenced an investigation.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating one David Idibie for the death of his wife, Juliana, in their residence at Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the 42-year old Juliana had engaged her husband, David, in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained a severe head injury on February 16, 2021, at about 10 pm.

While lying in her pool of blood, the angry husband refused to rescue her until she gave up the ghost.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson, Lagos State police command, Mr Adejobi Olumuyiwa, said the police operatives attached to Langbasa Division, Ajah, who were informed of the incident by a neighbour of the couple, arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has condemned the act and vowed to work with other relevant government agencies and non-governmental bodies to tackle domestic violence to a standstill in the state.

Commiserating with the family and friends of the deceased on her untimely death, Odumosu promised to make sure justice is done in the case.
