How herdsmen shattered woman's jaw, cuf-off finger in Oru-ijebu

THE herdsmen have shattered the jaw and cut-off the fingers of Mrs. Morounkeji Salami in Ijebu-Oru, under Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The victim who is in crucial pains and also on danger list in the hospital she was rushed to was brutally injured by the herdsmen.

According to a source, the victim who was rushed to hospital in Ago-Iwoye by sympathisers, but following the severity of the injury sustained, the hospital management advised that she should be taken to a better equipped hospital, forced her family moved her to a hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident when contacted, said that three of the suspected herdsmen have been arrested, while intensive investigation has commenced.

Oyeyemi said, “the suspects realising the brutal injury inflicted on the woman, and the fear that they may be caught, took to their heels, abandoned their cows, with the aim to return when normalcy returns to the vicinity.

“But the police resolved to keep surveillance in the area, three of the suspects were arrested when they returned to move their abandoned cows.”

3 arrested for allegedly beating 23-year-old man to death

Three suspects, who reportedly beating a 23-year-old man, Samuel Ajibade, to death over alleged phone theft have been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command.

According to the police, the three suspects, Ugo Obi, Chinonso Jude, and Chibuke Samson, were arrested  January 21, 2021 at Iju Ota,  Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the father of the victim, Gbenga Ajibade, had reported at Onipanu Divisional Headquarters that his son, Samuel, was jointly beaten to a state of coma.

He said the father stated further that the deceased was rushed to the General Hospital, Ota but was confirmed dead as soon as he got to the hospital by the doctor on duty.

Oyeyemi said the Divisional Police Officer, Onipanu, CSP Bamidele Job, led detectives to the scene where the three suspects were arrested.

He said it was the quick response of the police that saved the suspects from being lynched by the mob, on hearing that the victim was dead.

Oyeyemi said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ota for post mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution. Culled from Vanguard
