Fire razes Agboju Market, Sunday Igboho house in Ibadan

There was a fire outbreak at the popular Agboju Market in Festac, Lagos early this morning.

According to a source from the area, the fire started at about 2.30 am. Before the fire could be brought under control by the Lagos State Fire Service Operatives, some shops have been razed.

However, no life was lost to the incident but the value of property destroyed and cause of the fire incident not yet ascertained.

How Sunday Igboho house gutted by fire

A house owned by Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho was reportedly set ablaze early Tuesday morning.

The fire reportedly started around 3am in his building located in Soka area of Ibadan in Oyo State.

The source of the fire was unknown, but it was gathered that firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service arrived at the scene a few hours after to douse the fire.

He accused the Fulani herdsmen of masterminding abductions and killings in the state.

After the expiration of the deadline, the house, cars of the Seriki Fulani in Igangan was torched.

Although, Sunday denied being involved in the incident.

A source from Ibadan, said that this could be a reprisal of what happened to herdsmen in Igangan.

Some Yorubas supported those who razed my house — Sunday

According to Sunday Igboho, during his visit to the burnt house, “around 3:00 am in the morning, my younger ones sleeping in the house called me that some people came to the house and started shooting and set the house on fire.

“What I am is that this herdsmen are killing us, kidnapping our people. But some Yoruba people supported the Fulani to burn my house. I am not suspecting anybody, but if my people did not support them, they would not come to my house. Why can’t they come where I am living, I don’t know what to call them.”

Hoodlums razes Igboho house — Police

Hoodlums loaded in a bus and taxi razed the residence of Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, the Oyo State Police Command, has revealed.

Oyo Police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Fadeyi also said the police were told that the arsonists shot in the air several times as they put fire to the house located at the Soka area of Ibadan.

He said the police had begun an investigation into the incident.

The house was said to have been burnt around 3am on Tuesday after the power supply to the area was cut off.

The police statement reads: “At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, a report was received at the Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at Soka area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra ( taxi) firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.

“The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while the value of other properties is yet to ascertain."
