Area F PCRC partners police to tackle gridlock


*Inaugurates Traffic Corps Team

LAGOS State Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Area F Command, Ikeja, has inaugurated Traffic Corps Team to support police effort in tackling traffic gridlock in the state.

The inauguration, which was performed by the Area F Commander, ACP John Ali Zongo, was held at the Command’s Headquarters in Ikeja.

In his speech, Zongo commended the committee for the initiative to help reduce traffic bottleneck in the state, which was already at an alarming rate. He directed Area Traffic Officer, CSP Akinsola, to put the Traffic Corps Team in a proper shape by organising training for them. He also charged Akinsola to be fully involved and carry the team along.

Chairman, Area F PCRC, Rev. (Prof.) J.A. Olatunde, thanked the area commander for making out time from his tight schedule to inaugurate the Traffic Corps, adding that this shows the importance the ACP attached to the initiative to assist police in the command to control traffic.

He said: “I appreciate the command boss for his cooperation, which is a source of encouragement for us to do more.”

Olatunde, who welcomed other traffic management agencies, such as Area Traffic Officers, ATOs, Divisional Traffic Officers, DTOs, explained the impact of being part of the solution to traffic menace in the state.

The Area F PCRC Traffic Corps Committee Chairman, Chief Emeka Atu, who is the first Vice Chairman of the Command's PCRC, assured the area commander of his committee's readiness to work with the ATO, DTOs and the loyalty of his corps members to deliver.
