Nigeria: COVID cases rise to 29,789

On 7 July, 2020; 503 new confirmed cases and 15 deaths were recorded in Nigeria
The website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control revealed this yesterday night.
The total confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria has increased to 29789, while 12108 cases have been discharged and 669 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The 503 new cases are reported from 20 states- Lagos (153), Ondo (76) Edo (54), FCT (41), Enugu (37), Rivers (30), Benue (24), Osun (20), Kaduna (15), Kwara (13), Abia (9), Borno (8), Plateau (6),Taraba (5), Ogun (3), Kano (3), Kebbi (2), Nasarawa (2), Bayelsa(1), Gombe (1).

National Grid: FG splits TCN, as NISO begins operations

THE Federal Government has formally inaugurated the board and management of the Nigerian Independent System Operator, NISO, marking the official unbundling of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, into two separate entities. Under the new structure, the Transmission Service Provider, TSP, will oversee TCN’s physical infrastructure, including transmission towers, power lines, and substations. Meanwhile, NISO will take charge of system operations, managing load allocation from generation companies to distribution companies and eligible customers. Speaking at the induction ceremony organised by the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the Managing Director/CEO of NISO, Engr. Insecurity: Amotekun, Agbekoya warriors move into S-West forests

FOLLOWING the rising wave of kidnapping in Kwara and Kogi states, Agbekoya warriors have moved to some villages in Oyo State to flush out terrorists hibernating there. Similarly, the South West Amotekun commander, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, yesterday, promised to strengthen security across the zone and its forests. Speaking after its meeting in Ibadan, the Agbekoya Farmers Association also expressed deep concern over the spate of insecurity challenges in Nigeria, particularly the recent incidents in Kwara, Kogi, Kebbi and Borno states.
