Local govt election holds next year, says LASIEC

As part of preparation for 2021 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas elections in the Lagos State, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has been visiting council bosses to sensitize them on the council election.
LASIEC which was charged and saddled with the responsibility of conducting election at the local level has charged the council authority to prepare for the next year's election.
Dr.Bunmi Omosehindemi who represented the Chairman of the electoral empire in the state, Justice Philip Ayodele disclosed that local government election will hold next year and all hands must be on deck for free and fair and credible elections.
In his words: "The essence of our visit is to get the council authority in tune with our preparation for the coming election and to set the ball rolling through adequate preparation necessary for the guaranteed of a free and fair election.
“The visitation of the team is to have a first-hand information on the working environment and the challenges confronting LASIEC office at various local government with the purpose of putting necessary measures in place as part of the preparation for a smooth electoral exercise to take place".
The LASIEC Electoral officer of the Local Government Mr. Oladiran reeled out some of the challenges confronting them at the council, top of which is the provision of an adequate store for the housing of pre-and post-election materials.
In his response, the council chairman, Hon. Idris Bolaji Muse who was represented by vice, Hon. Diasi Oso appreciated the electoral umpire team for their visit. Assured them of the council authority's robust and healthy cooperation in preparation for the next year's election.
