Don't allow minors sit in vehicles' front seat — FRSC warns parents

By Sarah Anu-Oluwapo

Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, has warned parents not to allow children below 12 years to sit at the front seats of vehicles on the motion.
An official of the commission, Marshal Anthony Adeyinka, stated this on road safety and to avoid road accidents. He said that any parent who allows his or her underage children to sit at the front seat would be arrested and prosecuted.
He said: “This practice is so rampant especially on Sunday when they are going to church. Children who are below 12 years will sit at the front seat.
“If you are above 12, make sure that you use the seat-belt when you sit at the front seat.
“The belt is to save your life in case there is a road accident. The belt will hold you back and will not allow the airbag to choke you. To avoid being knocked down by vehicle at night, put on reflective colours such as white, yellow, and lemon, as these colours reflect in the night and enable drivers who are driving at night to see you.”
