Don’t switch-off cellphone at night, Community leader urges public
•Recounts how his family’s midnight prayer forced robbers to flee
ONE of the landlords in Mafoluku, whose name can not be revealed for security reasons has advised other landlords and residents not to switch off their cellphone in the midnight to enable them receive message whenever there is danger in their areas. The landlord gave the advice when The Harbinger visited him after escaping robbers’ invasion in his area.
He said: “lnter connectivity of security guards to other streets is very important especially when we are facing security challenges in the country. Every street must have security guards and the guards must relate actively with their counterparts in other streets.”
Explaining how he escaped from the robbers that invaded his house, he said, “All that happened that night was like a nightmare. I was relaxing at the balcony of my house because of the power outage when I saw armed robbers in their numbers. Immediately I sighted them, I quickly alerted other landlords through a phone call and text messages. Even one of my children sneaked out to alert the nearby security guards on duty about the presence of the robbers.
“The robbers went straight to the house opposite my house. Unfortunately, before they got there, their target person had cleverly jumped over fence to other compound, being that he got the information from his landlord. The annoyance of their unsuccessful operation in the first house forced them to start robbing other houses in the street. When they stormed my house and met me and my family praying seriously with jiggling of bell loudly, they took to their heels.”
