AS part of its efforts to support the police in rendering effective service to society. The Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC Area F, Ikeja recently commissioned a multi-purpose building for police. The committee also honoured some of its members that have contributed immensely to its progress.

The awardees are General Overseer, Goodnews Miracle Bible church, Archbishop George Amu, Chief Ogbuefi Kelvin, Mrs. Taiwo Atobatele, while Joseph Igbalajobi and Mr. Kadiri were given posthumous awards. In his welcome address, the Chairman of Area ‘F’ PCRC,  Rev. Johnson Olatunde, explained that the committee was established to foster a relationship between police and society. Also, the committee provides information for police to ensure a secure society.

He said that PCRC members report to police what is happening in their respective areas. We assist police to repair their vehicles and even fuel the vehicles when necessary. We provide building structures since the government can not meet all the police demands.   “At a moment,  construction of this type of multi-purpose buildings are ongoing at Makinde and Ojodu Police Divisions. We are also commencing another one at Alausa Police Division. The one being commissioned today has more than five offices upstairs that will serve the Area Commander and other senior police officers, with a multipurpose hall downstairs. Funds are sourced within us and from companies around us. This is the only way  Police can be supported if we expect them to perform better.”

In his remark, the Area Commander ‘F’, Ibrahim Zuguna, appreciated the efforts of  PCRC members, he described their dedication and commitment to work as a sacrifice for a better Police and Nigeria.
Archbishop George Amu, who stated that the foundation of the commissioned building was laid during his tenure as chairman, admonished Nigerians to always put in their best whenever they were given the opportunity to serve, reminding that posterity would judge everyone’s act.
He also frowned at the call for state Police, stating instead of state police, that PCRC should be expanded to meet the desired goals of a better Police that would meet the expectations of the public.
The Area F Commander, ASP Ibrahim Zuguna commissioning the PCRC Multi-Purpose Building in Area F, Ikeja, recently, flanked by Area F PCRC chairman, Rev. J.A. Olatunde, Chairman of the occasion, Chief Reuben Ibe Akam, Mr. George Okoye and other PCRC members and Police officers.
