He deserved award and encouragement. His bravery could be compared to the act of skill and bravery exhibited by Captain Scott Francis O'Grady of United States of America Air Force in 1995. On June 2, 1995, O'Grady was shot down over Bosnia and Herzegovina by an 2K12 Kub mobile SAM launcher and forced to eject from his F-16C into hostile territory. Marines from squadron 464 and the 24 MEU(SOC) eventually rescued O'Grady after nearly a week of his evading the Bosnian Serbs. NIGERIAN Airforc e, NAF,  pilot, Flight Lieutenant Abayomi Dairo, who escaped from bandits after his jet was shot down while on a mission in the skies of Zamfara State has given details of how he made his way to safety. In the submission which has gone viral on social media, the combat pilot said he had a premonition of his encounter days before the  military assigned him on the mission. A cholera outbreak in Jigawa State has killed no fewer than 30 people with more than 2,000 hospitalised in the past two months in the state. This came as seven people were confirmed killed by cholera in Enugu State. Permanent Secretary, Jigawa State Ministry of Health, Dr Salisu Mu’azu, who confirmed the outbreak, said most of the infected cases were children recorded in nine local government areas of the state. Mu’azu listed Hadejia, Dutse, Kirikasamma, Birnin Kudu and Ringim as some of the areas worst hit by the outbreak. He said of the 2,000 infected cases, some had been discharged while others were still receiving free medical treatment in government hospitals. The permanent secretary, who could not immediately say what was the cause of the outbreak, insisted that the Hadejia case could be linked to water pollution.   A two-storey building, under construction at Number 77, Tapa Road, Oke-Ojo, Isawo in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has reportedly collapsed and trapped trapping its landlord to death. The incident occured at 2.30p.m., while people were celebrating the Eid-el Kabir. The deceased was identified as Pastor Daniel Obasi. It was gathered that the collapsed building was an attachment to the main building. His body was later recovered from the rubbles by emergency responders, and handed over to Isawo Police Division.   Narrating what happened, a neighbour to the deceased who pleaded anonymity said workers worked till late evening on Monday. NIGERIA Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has urged Nigerians to be mindful of the high risk of spread of COVID-19, and adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures. Making the call in a  public health advisory issued on Tuesday and signed by the Director-General of the Centre, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, they said the advisory became necessary based on the high risk of spread of COVID—19 in Nigeria and the need for collective responsibility to prevent a surge in cases. Ihekweazui explained that despite significant efforts, there was still ongoing transmission of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2)  that causes COVID-19, in Nigeria and across the world. Monkeypox victim THE Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has registered 59 suspected cases of monkeypox with 15 confirmed, its Director-General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said on Tuesday, in Abuja. Ihekweazu was reacting to the Dallas, Texas resident who recently returned from Nigeria and tested positive to the disease.  It was the first confirmed case of the virus in the United States since 2003, with health officials saying that the public should not be concerned.  Laboratory tests confirmed that the patient was infected with a strain of the virus mainly seen in West Africa, which included Nigeria.  “While rare, this case is not a reason for alarm and we do not expect any threat to the general public,” Dallas County Judge, Clay Jenkins, said in a statement by Dallas County’s health department.
