  Yesterday, Nigeria recorded 138  new cases of Coronavirus; bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 58,460. According to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, 507,006 samples were tested so far; while 49,895, Coronavirus patients have been successfully treated and discharged, as active cases now 7,454 and 1,111 deaths. LAGOS State Government has canceled the practical assessment examination for candidates ahead of the conduct of 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examinations, BECE, for Junior Secondary School Students ,JSS 3. The exam is scheduled to hold from Tuesday, October 6 to Monday October 12 at designated centres from 9.00 am daily. In a statement by the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr Supo Gbadegesin on Wednesday, the board explained that the assessment examination has been cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic in order not to allow candidates spend long hours at examination centres. It would be recalled that the board last week announced a new dates for the conduct of 2020 screening test into Lagos State Model Colleges and upgraded Junior Secondary Schools in the state. NLC has directed state councils to intensify mobilization of workers and other Nigerians preparatory for the strike scheduled to start on Monday, September 28.
