The lifeless body of a police inspector, identified as Haruna Mohammed, was discovered in a hotel room at Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi, Akute, in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. It was gathered that the inspector, who was attached to the Ishashi Police Division in Lagos State, had arrived at the Super G Royal Hotel in Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute, with a woman at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. The hotel manager, Deborah Adejobi, reportedly found their room unlocked at around 8:52 a.m. When she checked inside, she discovered the officer’s lifeless body, while the woman was nowhere to be found. According to a police memo detailing the situation, the hotel owner, Abiodun Olagunju, reported the incident to the police, adding that the woman had earlier visited the reception at about 6:00 a.m. to request for bottled water. •No plans to extend registration deadline  The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Friday said sanctions would be imposed on underage applicants in the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, registration. Oloyede, who monitored the registration across various centres in Lagos told reporters that out of the 780,202 candidates registered so far, 11,512 were underage. GOVERNOR Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, has accused opposition political parties of attempting to cause trouble ahead of the local government election. The Governor, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed that his administration would not condone any act of violence in the state. TEN students of The Polytechnic Ibadan were rushed to Adeoyo State Hospital and the University College Hospital, UCH, in Ibadan after inhaling poisonous gas in the institution’s laboratory. It was gathered that the affected students, who are from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, were about to receive a lecture when a minor quarrel started between two students. While other students were attempting to mediate, a gaseous substance was reportedly sprayed by one of the students into the Hall which made ten students unconscious. Upon receiving a distress call, the Commissioner for Health in Oyo State, Dr Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, rushed to the hospital to assess the condition of the students. THE National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has bursted massive buildings filled with expired drugs and supplements at Umumeje village, in Umuocheala community, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State. He thanked Governor Alex Otti for his support for the operation, stressing that the team has been getting adequate cooperation from the state government. The massive compound with two-storey building, boys’ quarters and four other bungalows, located few kilometres to the popular Ariaria International market, was discovered to be the hub of distribution of expired and fake drugs and supplements. THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has took a swipe at the tax regime of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying workers in the country now pay more taxes than what they receive from the recently increased minimum wage. It also also recommended to the International Labour Organisation, ILO, payment of a universal wage system and universal condition of service for workers.
