Former National Vice Chairman (North-East) of All Progressives Congress, APC, Salihu Lukman, said that the party has done badly in meeting its campaign promises.  Lukman, who stated this in an interview with Arise TV, said APC’s performance on key campaign promises, such as security, economic stability, and anti-corruption, had been woeful. CHAIRMAN of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage, Bukar Goni Aji, has asked Labour to reconsider the amount it demanded as minimum wage, citing the prevailing economic situation in the country. He listed such incentives as the N35,000 wage award for all treasury-paid federal workers, N100 billion for procurement of gas-fuelled buses and conversion to gas kits, the N125 billion conditional grant, financial inclusion to small and medium scale enterprises and the N25,000 each to be shared to 15 million households for three months as reasons Labour should accept the N62,000 offered by the government, against its demand of N250,000. But Labour in a swift reaction, accused the Tripartite Committee chairman of lacking knowledge of the hardship and suffering workers and other Nigerians were going through. Residents of Ijedodo community in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have protested the invasion of their community  by suspected land grabbers posing as officials of the Federal Housing Authority, FHA.   Led by the Baale,  Abu Ayinde Ododo, the residents marched on the streets with placards bearing different inscriptions, lamenting the demolition of their properties by unknown developers under the guise of the “New FESTAC Development Property”. One of the estates demolished by the suspected land grabbers is the multi-billion Naira estate developed by members of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria, an Igbo association that acquired vast land for its members to build on about five years ago.   Members of the association   were however  shocked on March 24, 2024, when demolition was being carried out on already-erected structures on their lands. *Promotes self to SP rank lCase under investigation —PPRO  THE Police Command in Cross River State said that it has arrested and detained a corporal, who had failed to report to new station in Kaduna State  Commsnd  since 2015. The detained corporal, who was alleged to have been carrying out illegal activities using his uniform in Calabar, the  Cross River State capital was also accused of impersonation. The corporal, Buba Adamu, who had since promoted himself to the rank of Superintendent of Police, SP, was said to have been transfered from Cross River Command to Kaduna State Police Command  in 2015. Adamu is said to have been operating as a “mobile police officer” without any supervision nor reporting to a specific police command since 2015.  During this time, he has been receiving his salary despite not reporting to his new station. A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has said  the solution to  Nigeria’s economic problem  is not increase in minimum wage, but deflation of economy. Onuesoke, in a chat with Vanguard said wage increment would not solve the economic problem in the country, but would increase it. According to him, Nigerians were getting it wrong. His words: “What Nigeria wanted is deflation. If you increase the salary to one million Naira today, the prices of goods and services will keep increasing.
