Students arrested for rapping JSS student

THREE Senior Secondary School students have been arrested by police detectives in Ondo State for allegedly gang-raping a junior female student within the school premises.

Police sources said the suspects lured a 14-year-old student into the bush at the back of the school gate and gang-raped her last Thursday.

It was gathered that one of the suspects had earlier requested a relationship with the victim, which was turned down.

“The boys monitored and ambushed the female student at the lonely place within the school during the break period.

 “The victim went into a nearby bush in the school to defecate and on her way back, one of the boys noticed her and invited his two friends to join him in the ungodly act, which took place in an isolated place within the school premises.

“The three boys thereafter waylaid and raped her in turn. It was gathered that the girl’s classmates, who saw her blood-stained uniform in the classroom raised the alarm.

“The school authorities were informed of the development and the police were invited leading to the arrests of the suspects."

The state police image maker, Funmi Odunlami, who confirmed the ugly incident, stated that it was a case of conspiracy and defilement against the trio, adding that the suspects have been arrested and are in their custody.

Edo Police arrests 7 for cultism, killing

Meanwhile, Police in Edo State said three suspected members of the Eiye confraternity have been arrested for cult-related activities while four others are in its custody over the alleged killing of a yet-to-be-identified man for allegedly stealing an unregistered motorcycle.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspected cultists were arrested around Nomayo area in Upper Sokponba Road while the four for extrajudicial killings were picked up in Iyanamo community near Ekheuan Barracks.

“Four persons linked to the death of the deceased have been arrested and are assisting the Police in their investigation," he said.

Man killed for sleeping with kingsman's wife

A 60-year-old man, Ukaegbu Ogii, has been stabbed to death over an alleged sexual relationship with the wife of his kinsman, in Ndiolumbe community, Isiala Ngwa South council of Abia State. A community source said that the attacker , identified as Nkume, allegedly stabbed Ogii following an argument over an alleged sexual affair with Nkume's wife. Some eyewitnesses alleged that Nkume used a dagger to stab him in the neck. Ogii died before he could receive medical attention, while his attacker fled before the youths were alerted to the scene. It was also gathered that Nkume had at several times confronted Ogii, accusing him of having an affair with his wife,leaving him with an injury during one of the occasions. Easter: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

THE Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6, 2026, public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
