Afenifere to Tinubu: Seek local, foreign help to end insecurity

It also noted that the sovereignty and corporate existence of the country is being threatened, adding that the Federal Government appears helpless about it. In a statement yesterday, the high commission noted that visa fraud cost victims millions of pounds annually and exposed them to financial loss, legal trouble, and, in some cases, exploitation. This comes as the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia launched a joint campaign to combat visa fraud and protect Nigerians from fraudulent immigration facilitators. Students flee over fears of herdsmen attack

*It was a false alarm — Police    PANDEMO NIUM broke out in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, as students of Otagba-Ogbe Girls Secondary School, fled the school premises over fears of herdsmen attack. It was gathered that students of the school saw some herdsmen in the school premises and started running, causing panic in the community. A source in the community said: “‘Everyone is at alert. The truth is that there were rumours that some herdsmen met close to the school premises on Saturday.  “Today, as they were learning, two herdsmen entered the school compound from the back. How girl stabbed uncle to death

A twenty -one year old woman, simply identified as Iquo has stabbed her uncle to death at the busy Marian Market in Calabar, Cross River State, following a squabble.  The lady, according to sources stays with her grandmother while her uncle whom she stabbed is the son to the woman she lives in the same apartment. The two were alleged to be having issues which resulted in frequent brawls. “She is a lady of about 21 years and has a baby. She and the uncle live together and were always  having repeated fights. Before the incident, they were said to be having repeated fights  since Thursday and on Saturday both of them went to the market where their grandmother sells fish. The fight broke out there again and she used the knife they use in cutting fish for customers to stab the uncle and he slumped and died,” Alice, a trader at the Marian market told Vanguard. Lagos, UNICEF, NPC launch e-Birth Registration for children

Lagos State Government, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF; the National Population Commission, NPC, and the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, have launched e-Birth Registration Initiative to ensure that every child born in the state is officially captured in the national database. The initiative was launched as part of efforts to strengthen child protection and improve planning through accurate data collection. Speaking on the occasion, Sanwo-Olu, said; “The e-birth registration will make it easier to capture children’s data from birth and link it with their National Identification Number (NIN). “Every child from zero to 12 months must be registered under the National Population Commission. With the E-registration, their data will be collected right from birth, and that is the way forward,” the governor stated. THE Aare  Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has raised alarm that terrorists and bandits operating from forests in the South West are plotting to launch attacks on the region if urgent steps are not taken to curb the planned attack. Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Iba Adams warned that some terrorists and bandits have occupied various forests in Kogi, Kwara, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, parts of Edo, and Delta states. POPE LEO  has voiced renewed alarm over the escalating violence, discrimination, and persecution faced by Christian populations in several nations, including Nigeria, Mozambique, Sudan, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, DRC, among others. The alarm came against the backdrop of US declaration of Nigeria as a country of particular concern, CPC, in view of allegation Christian genocide in the country, with Nigeria receiving significant criticism for its handling of attacks on Christian-dominated communities.
