Lagos Task Force cracks down on 'Omotaku Boys' arrests 28 members

THE Lagos State Task Force has arrested 28 members of the 'Omotaku Boys' gang, who specialised in extorting motorists whose cars broke down on the Oshodi/Apapa and Mile Two/Badagry expressways.

The arrest followed complaints from motorists who were intimidated and forced to pay large sums of money as failure to compl
y resulted in vehicle vandalism or theft, especially for vehicles carrying goods.

Chairman of the Taskforce, Adetayo Akerele, said  the operation marked a significant step in ensuring relief for motorists and residents who have suffered trauma due to the gang's activities.

He reaffirmed the agency's commitment to ensuring safety and security, vowing to continue the mop-up exercise until every member of the gang was arrested and charged to court.

He said: "The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, and we will continue in our efforts to rid the metropolis of those who prey on law-abiding citizens."

He said all 28  suspects would  be charged to court  immediately.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through 'See Something, Say Something' initiative aimed at  keeping Lagos State safe and habitable.
